There are so many lost souls here. Many have meandered innocently into the darkness of unrelenting self doubt. Others who boldly stepped off into the muddle of mixed colors that seemed to offer the chance of a rainbow, but instead they found the colors were just the blaze of so many dew beads on the steel strong threads of a greedy web. Some were thrust early from the road we were told was to be expected. And others of us had a hand come from an innocuous shadow and tear us from what would have been.
So many hearts burdened with "should of" and "if only" or wrapped so tightly in protective layers they can barely beat.
So many wraiths of the past and rattling chains of the future.
And then, in the seemingly impenetrable darkness our eyes long ago adjusted to and our minds and bodies learned to call "normal" and "right" a tiny tendril of light - of real light, the kind so many of us have forgotten, or had give up on as childhood fantasy - leaks through a crack we missed buttressing with our own dark-matter.
With the light come voices - so foreign. Offering the terrifying prospect of hope, and even the unthinkable - true understanding.
So many lost souls - so many who turn an ear to the voices, who inch closer to the light - who find they are far from lost, but perfectly found.
I watched as some here allowed more and more of the light to fall on their souls - and it started to radiate out through a found voice shared, eyes that have cast away their dullness and now hold a gleam full of promise, and real and honest friendships forged through the pain of truthful tears and the sweat of together working to widen the crack and let the light slowly and painfully show us the harsh truth...of how...strong, caring, giving, and deeply beautiful we really are.
What’ll happen when the sun
No longer feels like shining for the earth?
Will she turn to, the only one
Who has shown her light from birth?
The lunar rays
That wax and wane
Surely cannot compare
To the magnificent beams
That the sun, it seems
Will put forth forever
But the moon still shows
When darkness grows
And the sun has run away
Its silver light
Bathes the night
And gives her company
Even when the sun is there
The moon is hiding in its glare
If ever the need arise
If the sun were hid
The moon would rid
The darkness from her eyes
She may think he’s lying
But his love’s undying
The moon longs to know
As she draws him near
He hopes to hear
Why she had to go
The sun would flare
The moon was forced to stare
And watch them drift apart
And when the earth would cry
The sun could dry
The tears from her heart
But the radiant star
Is forever far
And never at her side
Yes, he may
Put the moon to shame
And force his rays to hide
But when the sun goes away
After only a day
What will she do then?
Maybe she’ll look
For the heart she took
Forever ago from him
For her moon is still
Her forever until
He crumbles into dust
