St. Paul's Episcopal Church enjoys the dedicated services of clergy, staff members and volunteers who help fulfill our mission. They include:
Our vicar, The Reverend Judith Jones, was born and raised in Austin, and attended First Baptist Church there throughout her growing up years. She was confirmed in the Episcopal Church at Easter Vigil, 1986, and was an active member of St. David's in Austin from 1985 until being assigned as St. Paul's Lay Vicar in the fall of 2006. Judith graduated from the Iona School for Ministry and was ordained to the transitional diaconate in June of 2008. Her ordination to the Order of Priests in the Episcopal Church occurred on January 24th, 2009. and check out her blog at http://vicarintheburbs/blogspot.com/
Staff
Jane Burkett, Office Manager Jane is our office manager. She produces all printed materials for the church, keeps up with the church records, and makes out the Lay Ministry Calendar, among many other duties that she handles for the Vicar. Jane has a law degree and a background of working in the film industry, running her own construction company, and advising and overseeing care of the elderly. She is also a writer and artist.
Ron Vasey, Director of Music Although Ron's professional career has focused on IT, his avocation has always been music. He comes from a family of church musicians and carries on that tradition at St. Paul's. He plans our music, leads our music group, and plays the organ and keyboard in services.
Shamika Mack and Shirley Horelica-Maedgen, Nursery Caregivers Shamika and Shirley take wonderful care of our littlest members. Infants through age 4 are welcome in the nursery. Babies are rocked, fed and changed as needed. Toddlers get a good workout on the playground if the weather is nice: if not, they are read Bible stories, watch Veggie Tales, or enjoy playing with the many toys available in the nursery. These ladies are excellently trained and mothers as well, so parents can relax and enjoy services and classes, knowing their babies are being taken care of by the best! Shamika and Shirley are certified in "Safeguarding God's Children", a program of the Episcopal Church focused on preventing child abuse and neglect. |
